Track & Field

Our Track & Field team has had a very busy couple of weeks! At the Huron-Perth Championships, they placed 2nd overall as a team, with Abigail Kraayenbrink winning the Overall Individual Junior Girls Title. Abigail also broke Huron-Perth records in the 1500 meter and 3000 meter races and broke a Madill record in the 3000 meter race. This means she is the fastest 3000 meter Junior Girl runner in the history of FE Madill! Ryan Jacklin also had major success, breaking Huron-Perth records in the discus and shot put events, and he also broke a Madill school record and is the best we’ve seen yet in the Senior Boys Shot Put. Last week, the team sent 32 athletes to the WOSSAA Track & Field Championships in London. Together, the team accumulated 27 top six finishes! Abigail Kraayenbrink burned up the track again, setting new Madill records in both the 800 meter and 1500 meter races. Abigail, along with Hannah Van Stuyvenburg, Austin Eadie, Ryan Jacklin, and Matt Oldridge, all medaled in their respective events. Amazingly, Matt Darrell also tied a Madill school record in the 200 meter sprint, running it in 22.95 seconds! Congratulations to the 12 athletes who have qualified to move onto OFSAA Regionals in Cambridge this coming weekend!

Madill Mentors

All students involved in the Madill Mentors program are asked to see Mrs. Jackson today or tomorrow. Permission forms for Thursday’s trip to Camp Kintail should be handed in as soon as possible.
