Junior Girls Basketball

The junior girls basketball team hosted their first tournament last Friday. Against very aggressive Mount Forest and Walkerton teams, the girls started to learn what championship basketball looks like. Jaime Newell led the way in the first game scoring 17 points and continuously rejecting opponents at the rim. In the second game, the stellar defensive of Hannah Bloemberg and the constant hustle of Hanna van Stuyvenburg kept Madill in the game until MacKenna Bross exploded for 11 of her 13 points in the second half sealing the comeback victory for Madill. Congratulations girls!

? Boys and Girls Soccer Teams

On Friday of last week the ? boys and girls soccer teams arrived at their tournament ready for a fight. We were invited guests, but we did not act like it. The boys could not be stopped. They entered beast mode and improved with every game, playing 4 games in a row – including a thrilling shootout victory in the semi-finals. In the final, the boys put up a valiant effort, but injuries and fatigue set in and we were defeated in a 1-0 heart breaker. The girls, on the other hand, fought like wolves through every battle. They ended up in first place after the regular games and came up against Elma in the championship game. Elma was no match for these Mustang girls. Madill cruised to a 3-0 victory! Mrs Culbert and Mr Westra would like to shout out a huge thanks to each of the members of the team for the way you represented the Mustang herd. Congrats on a job very well done.
