Cross Country Running

Competition was keen but the Mustangs prevailed at the Huron Perth cross country championships. Eight Madill runners won placings that will take them to WOSSAA in Aylmer. Madeline Yungblut lead the Junior Girls team with a resounding 2nd place victory closely followed by teammates Rachel Nivins, Michele Studhalter, and Kara Hendriks. Their solid team effort won 3rd place overall and a berth to WOSSAA.
In the hotly contested Senior Girls race, Julie Anne Staehli clinched 3rd place while teammates Emily and Erin Yungblut followed closely with 8th and 9th. All 3 Senior Girls qualified for WOSSAA.
In Senior Boys, Matt Nivins covered the gruelling 6.7 km course to win a WOSSAA qualifier spot. Teammate Trevor Raynard also put in his best race of the season.
The WOSSAA cross country championships are to be held at the Springwater Conservation Area near Aylmer Thurs. Oct. 29.
