31 Madill Athletes Compete at OFSAA
Jun 02
31 Madill athletes had earned the right to compete at OFSAA West Regionals based on the strong performance of the team at WOSSAA this year. The team continued to perform brilliantly at the regional level. The OFSAA West Region draws athletes from 171 secondary schools across western and southwestern ontario. The level of competition is extremely high. In spite of the high level of competition, 21 members of the Madill team had at least one top 8 finish. 19 team members had at least one top 6 finish and 8 team members had at least one top 4 finish and have qualified to advance to OFSAA. 4 of the 8 who are advancing are competing in at least 2 events. Brianna Bird will be advancing in both the Midget Girls 1500 m and 3000 m thanks to school record-shattering performances in both of those events. Julie-Anne Staehli is advancing in the Open Girls 1500 m Steeplechase after setting a new school record in that event. Brayden Pellett, Mike Ballagh, Ben Dailleboust and Cole Pellett will be advancing in the 4×100 m Relay thanks to their school record breaking run. Ben will also be advancing in the 400 m Hurdles and Cole is advancing in both the Long Jump and Triple Jump. Luke Dailleboust is advancing in the Jr. Boys Sprint Hurdles and Long Jump and Alex Peters is advancing in the Midget Boys 100 m. Congratulations to everyone on the team who has contributed to our success at the Huron Perth, WOSSAA and OFSAA West levels and good luck to the athletes who will be representing our school at the OFSAA Championships which will be held in Sudbury this year on June 2-5.
