Success at Secondary Track and Field

Congratulations to the high school athletes on your results at WOSSAA.  You achieved beyond all expectations.  You earned 26 personal individual bests and 4 out of a possible 4 relay PB’s (recognition at practice Tues. May 22).  There were two new WOSSAA records set by Ryan Jacklin in the shot and javelin, 3 new Madill records (Ryan in shot, Brooke Jez in the 1500 and 3000) and 4 new benchmarks (Ryan in javelin, discus, Breelle in shot, Hanna in discus).  The team of 7 midget girls won the WOSSAA Championship for their division, quite a feat for this small but talented team. We advance 14 athletes in 23 events plus 1 relay to OFSAA West Regionals.  Congratulations to every high school athlete for your outstanding performances and effort at WOSSAA.

Our secondary track and field team had some impressive results at WOSSAA last week.  The WOSSAA region includes more than 50 high schools extending down to the London area, so there is significant competition! The Madill team had 26 personal best results and 4 out of a possible 4 relay PB’s.

The midget girls team, consisting of Megan Ash, Hannah Bloemberg, Emma Jackson, Brooke Jez, Jaime Newell, Breelle Shaw and Hanna van Stuvenberg had enough top place finishes to secure the Midget Girls WOSSAA Championship Title.  In addition, the Midget Girls  4 x 100 team secured a gold medal… pretty good for a team that doesn’t currently have a track to train on!

So, please wish our track & field team all the best as they head back to the TD Waterhouse Stadium in London tomorrow and Saturday to compete in OFSAA West Regionals.
