Madill Defends its Overall Track and Field Team Championship

The F.E. Madill Track and Field Team were dominant in the Huron-Perth Championships held May 10th and 11th in Clinton. Long hours spent preparing in adverse weather conditions this spring paid off with the team winning 8 of 9 possible pennants including; Midget, Junior, Senior and Overall Girls Champions, Junior, Senior and Overall Boys Champions, and Overall Team Champions. The only pennant not captured by the team was the Midget Boys division. Madill only had 4 competitiors in that category and they all performed extremely well earning 3rd place in that division. The Overall Team total of 811 points was more than the 2nd and 3rd place schools combined. Luke Dailleboust (Jr. Boys), Ben Dailleboust (Sr. Boys) and Julie-Anne Staehli (Sr. Girls) earned Individual Awards for having the most points in their categories. The whole team excelled with 44 team members having at least one personal best performance. In all, there were 74 individual personal best performances and 3 relay team personal best performances. 49 members of the team earned at least one top 6 finish and earned the right to compete in the WOSSAA Championships that will be held in London on May 19th and 20th.
